Congrats to our Graduate, Luke!

Congratulations to our graduating Teaching Assistants! Luke McFarlane has been working for Math Plus for 2+ years and is attending the Ohio State University in the fall. Before Luke worked at Math Plus as a teaching assistant, he was enrolled at Math Plus Academy as a student!

We asked Luke a few questions before he left…we hope you enjoy!

What high school did you graduate from?

Olentangy Liberty High School

What comes after graduation for you?

I am off to The Ohio State University in their Biomedical Science Program as a Stamps Scholar!

What are you favorite memories of Math Plus?

Secretly joining class games as a Teaching Assistant and dominating the competition.

Before you worked for Math Plus, you attended Math Plus as a student! What is one thing you learned as a student that has stayed with you through the years?

I went to MPA for a couple of summer camps, one of which was for chess, where I learned that you don’t actually take the king in checkmate.

How do you think Math Plus prepared you (as a student or teaching assistant) for your future?

I was offered a full ride scholarship to Ohio State because of my perfect ACT, part of which came from constantly practicing math with students at Math Plus.

What else would you like to mention about Math Plus, math, education, or the like?

To parents enrolling their kids here, you are doing your child a great service. Looking back on my education thus far, the most competitive kids were part of my accelerated math class in sixth grade. We became friends and continued pushing each other for years, which is a trend I’ve noticed in other classes as well: Academic rigor and healthy competition in our first “special” math class leading to success.
