Congrats to our Graduate, Samadhi!

Congratulations to our graduating Teaching Assistants! Samadhi Liyanapathirana has been working for Math Plus for 3+ years and is attending the Ohio State University in the fall. Before Samadhi worked at Math Plus as a teaching assistant, she was enrolled at Math Plus Academy as students!

We asked Samadhi a few questions before she left…we hope you enjoy!

What high school did you graduate from?

Olentangy Liberty High School

What comes after graduation for you?

Studying Public Health on the pre-med track at The Ohio State University as a Morrill Scholar.

What are you favorite memories of Math Plus?

Watching the students grow as learners over the years and also watching them grow up. Along with that, I enjoyed talking to students about their lives and what they enjoy doing. Coming to work was more than just learning math but also making connections with the kids, too.

Before you worked for Math Plus, you attended Math Plus as a student! What is one thing you learned as a student that has stayed with you through the years?

To ask questions! Since the classroom sizes were smaller, it was less intimidating to ask for help. I was encouraged to be curious, and to this day, I still am.

How do you think Math Plus prepared you (as a student or teaching assistant) for your future?

Talking to and teaching students is so much different than having a conversation with an adult. I had to learn how to adapt to a kid’s way of thinking, and I think that will carry into my future as I study pre-med because I’ll be able to think from different perspectives.

What else would you like to mention about Math Plus, math, education, or the like?

The community is so fun! Even though I worked alongside teachers much older than me and students much younger than me, everyone came together as a whole and made going to work feel less like a job and more like being part of something bigger.
